About TEO Counselling
TEO Counselling — Virtual Trauma & Relationship Therapy in Nanaimo, BC
A virtual counselling practice based in Nanaimo, BC, serving adults and couples across British Columbia. Everything we do is guided by one core belief: mental health care is a fundamental human right.

Our mission
Too many people who need therapy don't get it — because of cost, distance, long waitlists, or not knowing where to start. TEO was founded to change that. We remove barriers wherever we can: virtual sessions so geography isn't a barrier, sliding scale fees so cost isn't a barrier, and a free consultation so uncertainty isn't a barrier.
We also recognize that cultural fit matters deeply in therapy — especially for trauma. That's why we offer therapy in English, Arabic, Hindi, and Malayalam, and bring lived experience with diverse communities into our clinical work.
Our approach is evidence-based and tailored to you. We don't believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. We draw on EMDR, IFS, the Gottman Method, and CBT — choosing and combining what your situation actually calls for.
Virtual across all of BC
Secure online sessions via Zoom, Google Meet, or Jane. No commute, no waiting room — therapy that fits your life.
Bilingual: English & Arabic
One of BC's only practices offering full clinical therapy in Arabic — a meaningful difference for many clients.
Free initial consultation
No commitment. We talk, we listen, and we figure out together if we're the right fit for you.
Sliding scale fees
We work with clients who can't afford standard rates. Mental wellness shouldn't depend on income.
Insurance accepted
We accept most insurance plans that cover Canadian Certified Counsellors (CCC).
Meet our team
Two certified counsellors with a combined background spanning trauma, addictions, couples, and cross-cultural care.

Mohamad Shabib
MACP, CCC, RP(q) · Founder
Mohamad's path to counselling came through crisis response, First Nations community mental health, first responder trauma, and refugee support across two continents. His depth of real-world clinical experience — combined with advanced training in EMDR, IFS, and the Gottman Method — shapes a practice that is both rigorous and deeply human.

Alison Shaji
MA Clinical Psychology, RCC
Alison works from the belief that meaningful healing often begins by understanding where things started — in the early experiences that quietly shaped who you are. She integrates psychoanalytic depth with modern, evidence-based tools including DBT, EMDR, CBT, inner child work, and shadow work.
